7 months {Beckham Grant}

Well, we ALL knew this would happen.  I would fall off the blogging face of the universe.  What can I say?  Life Happens, and the extra minutes I could have been blogging have been consumed by endless house projects,  preschool "room mom" prep and countless other things.  Whoever came up with the name "Stay at Home Mom" obviously never was a SHAM..but that is another whole post in itself.  Lets get on to who this blog is about....BIG B!!

Since I need to do a 7 and 8 month catch up, I am just going to let the next few pictures speak for themselves.

Kolten Starts Preschool!!

Kolten is officially growing up!  His first day of preschool was August 19th, 2013.

He was super excited to start and go "meet new friends"  Kolten NEEDS school in his life.  Bryce and I had gone to a Parent Orientation the day before and were really impressed with his new school, so we were excited for him too.

The school wants you to use Canvas Bags instead of Backpacks, so it took a little getting used to for Kolten to hold it the right way!

The first day was technically orientation and Kolten only went for a thirty minute "test run."  The parents got to attend this day also.  On a "normal" day, they have a carpool line that you pull in and just drop them off/pick them up.  At first this was super overwhelming for me to think off...you want me to WHAT??? Drop my 3 year old off at the door????  But he has actually done great with it and it is super convenient not having to take Beck in and out.

Kolten's teacher had sent him a letter in the mail welcoming him to class the first day of school and it had a purple butterfly in it for him to bring the first day of school.  When he got there he was to look for the seat with a purple butterfly and this would be his seat for the year.

We had also brought a picture of him and they were called up one by one to staple it to the board in their classroom.

After that was story time..this is where we lost Kolten a little bit.  They sat on a car mat during story time and Kolten could not understand why there were no cars to play with.  He wanted to play cars NOT listen to the story.  Of course EVERY other child sat there calmly and Kolten was laying on the ground, going to look at books, basically anything but paying attention to the story.  I am hopeful that he will do better listening once mama is not involved.

We had to go shot a Brackett Commercial after school so it was a VERY busy day, but Kolten was all smiles afterwards!!!  I think it is going to be a GREAT year!!

A Half of a Year in a Flash

I am in serious denial that this guy is already a half-year old.  I will get to his 6 month update in the next few days weeks, but for now here is the past half of a year summed up in a 4 minute slideshow.  I will now go cry myself to sleep.

Destin

We took our 4th annual Brackett/Siesky family vacation to San Destin this past July.  In the years past we have gone in either May or June, but due to my maternity leave and the craziness at Bryce's work we had to take the trip a little later.   First Lesson??  Never take a vacation in July.  Why?  Well, the trip usually takes us between 11.5 - 12 hours ...this year it took a little over 15 hours!!!  That is a LONG time for a 2 year old and 5 month old.  However the Boys did AMAZING...until the VERY end...

Then we ALL felt like this!!!

However, we FINALLY arrived and the kids were soooo excited!  Since it was so late, we ordered pizza in that night and saved our grocery trip for the morning.  The kiddos were exhausted and it did not take long for them to all snuggle in together to watch a movie.  Adorable.

We were a little anxious about the weather forecast for the week.  It had apparently rained cats an dogs in Destin the previous two weeks and it was calling for rain the week we were there.  However, we were extremely blessed with AMAZING weather.  So what did we spend our time doing?

Pool!!  The place we stay at has an amazing pool and the kids LOVE it.  I think we got two full days in at the pool and a couple of evenings too.

Kolten was an absolute water bug.  He LOVED it..so much that we might have talked daddy into building us a pool of our own someday soon.

Beck liked it too, but was not a huge fan of his float.  He would much rather you hold him in the water or let him sit on the edge.

Just look at this hunka-hunka burning love!!!

Next Up?  Daddy's favorite place 30A.  If you have never been down 30A, you MUST do this at least once in your life.  It is a little strip with several small towns.  The most popular is Seaside, which we like, but our favorite is Rosemary Beach.  We love to eat lunch at a little place called Wild Olives and go through the shops there.  Bryce always makes me take random pictures of parts of the architecture he likes.

Kolten picked out this little elephant from one of the toy shops there and I just could not get over how cute he looked carrying it around by its trunk.

Let us not forget the food.  Bryce and I had been doing really good at eating clean...then vacation happened.  Kolten got to the point where he would order his own food and each order went like this.."I will have two chicken nuggets, two fries, and two sprites"  the kid is crazy, he will talk to anyone who has ears!!

We got some cute pics outside of one of our regular resturants Louie, Louie.  So good and a must try for anyone visiting Destin.

Real life right here people, real life.

The kids are too young for the beach everyday, but we like to at least try to get there once.

Kolten had a great time playing in the water and running from the waves.

He also helped daddy build a sand castle.

Honestly???  it was a little too hot and the babies were a little too young to stay out there very long and it just ends up being a lot of work for a little time.  But at least we can say we went, right?

Where we stay is within walking distance of Baytown, it is this great little place with restaurants, shops and all kinds of fun things for the kids to do.  We went over for fireworks one night and got our annual picture in the big chair.

Kolten was clearly not impressed by the fireworks.

Big Kids

They built a new movie theater in Destin Commons so we HAD to check it out.  Look at my three boys fixated on Turbo.  Love them so much!

With the exception of a solo elevator ride by this little guy, we had an AMAZING trip.

We also had a MUCH quicker trip home, which made for MUCH happier babies.

Till next year Destin, we miss you already!!!
